Just browsing thru PH and came across this bargain with only "slight damage"

    http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1962951.htm

I would consider a scratch as slight damage, not this

I'm sure you'll see a few diesel "S5"s around in a few years when the A5s come down in price ;)

So new airbags, wing, bonnet, lights, grille, front bumper, spoiler, valance and maybe cooler (probably both air and oil), professional paintjob (forget buying a can in Halfrauds), total bill could come to 20k if professionally done plus all the endless hassle getting it all organised, but I suppose for a garage in the UK it might be worth it, but they will always have to disclose accident damage, never be worth full price again.
Also, left hand front tire looks flat and the right hand side sill looks to have a knock towards the rear if you look in pic 2, but it's hard to tell.
Plus the driver's door might have the odd ding...
Forget bringing it over here though, would you still have to pay full VRT for it?

airbags are no big deal, €1500 for a full kit.

Its not exactly badly damaged though either. A very easy repair tbh.

and sarason, you could buy my A5 for the wife! If she doesnt need the power, it would be perfect!

they say in the ad "very easy repair" then why dont the garage repair it, then if they are so confident it is easy to fix they can make a huge profit for themselves:)

Its overpriced in the ad though IMO but as damage goes, it doesnt look bad.

it dosent look too bad in the photos tbh, the garage are just making it sound like buying it, repairing it and selling it on would be easy money!
    maybe im being paranoid:)

Just watch "Wrecks to Riches" and "Wheeler Dealers" and you'll know you're not.
Easy money compared to joinging the SAS but only just.

For the money, it's a steal. If the engine is still sound, the rest is just cosmetic really. Easy DIY tbh.

If the bags weren't out it'd be a bargain.

    (VRT = €16k! :eek::eek::eek:)

    Edit:

I was adding up the potential cost of this repair, then I seen the PAX airbag:

Would you have a case for claiming back some VRT (i.e. lodge an appeal after payment) on these due to the fact that they are previously repaired meaning they are worth less than the OMSP?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,340 ✭✭✭mullingar

    Here is a question,

Is the VRT amount based on the OMSP of the car "as presented" ????

    (probably not, but curious)
