    I'm looking to make a compilation for my friend who has been asking me about Irish music, whether it be Indie, Rock, Trad, whatever.

    So what would your Top 5, 10 or 20 (if you have the time on your hands :p) Irish songs?

    I can think of a few crackers myself, but i'm sure you guys can remind me of some more or introduce me to some hidden gems ;)

    I'd probably put some My Bloody Valentine on it.

    http://popicalisland.bandcamp.com/album/popical-island-1
    That has plenty of good Irish songs on it.

    I've never been a fan of the 'aul' stuff, but I've always had a soft spot for 'Scorn not his simplicity'
    This version

    The Immediate were a great Irish band that were criminally ignored.

    I'd also avoid U2.

    In no particular order;

    Taste - What's Going On

    Mama's Boys - Needle In The Groove
    Thin Lizzy - Cold Sweat
    Rory Gallagher - Too Much Alcohol (I know it's a cover)
    Warpath - Skinned and Salted

    Could think of more but I'm sleepy.
