Tyres needed for a Golf

As I say I need a new set of tyres (might get away with 2 but max 3 needed)

Now I went down to a garage down the road today (in Ranelagh) and was quoted 98eur a tyre (which I think is a bit rediculus). So I asked would he sell me the tyre without fitting. Same price.... in other words PFO

    The stats are as follows:

    Width: 195
    Profile Ratio : 65
    Rim Diameter: 16
    Load Index: R

Anyhow I can across this website (http://www.bestbuytyres.co.uk/Home.aspx)

and can get 4 tyres (Hanhook) delivered to a garage in Enniskillen and fitted and for c330 eur

Realistically, am I going to do any better?

Remember that driving to Enniskillen is not any hassle as my homeplace is about 30 mins drive from Enniskillen.

OP ring around that does sound a little dear.

Ring around i'm guessing you should be able to get them for around 70€ odd a piece fitted. If your getting four new tyres i'd say you might be able to get a bit knocked off the final price. Btw dont put three tyres on it its two or four. i.e. same tyres on the same axal(front or back)

I have a set of Cooper Zeon XTC (silly name :p) tyres on my Golf diesel.

The fronts have worn down to replacing point in about 10,000 miles. Maybe due to the diesel engine weight and my driving but they have been great besides. Never let go when I pushed it. Very respectable tyre though for performance there are better out there Im sure.

For the cheap to mid range tyres like mine it can work out about the same to just do it local. Online they go for 53 or so euro plus shipping and fitting.

If you want to step up the normal price for Bridgestone ER300 touring tyre seems to make it better to get online. Eiretyres.ie do a good deal and they have deals with local tyre fitters for installation prices.

So, the more expensive the tyre over here the more you will save online.

Im researching tyres myself and its just a minefield of selection, different prices, rip off republic, will I or wont I minimal price differences and no decent selection of objective reviews from magazines.

    Enjoy :p

My vote for a cheaper mid range tyre that will last you well would be the Coopers I have. I would get them again if they didnt wear as quickly. Though I wanna see what else is out there before I really judge.

If you're that close to Enniskillen ring Lakelands tyres in Lisnaskea...forget to have them delivered to some place in Enniskillen and you don't have the Sligo or Wellington Road traffic either... .

I'll throw out the usual suspects:

Try Kumho, Falken, bridgestone turanza etc etc.
