I just got my amp back after not having a hold of it for the last 2 weeks. I was playing last night and after about 20 minutes the sound started cutting out. I figured it was a lead or a pedal losing power.

After a lot of messing about checking things I plugged 2 different guitars and used 2 different leads direct into the amp and the problem still happens. the volume goes and comes back like some sort of a faulty connection.

Is there anything I can do myself to sort this out or will I have to get it seen to? If so should I just bring it to the nearest guitar specialist or is there any other repair person who'd sort it out?

Amp is a Hughes and Kettner Reverb series amp.

Sounds like the dreaded dry joint, most of which can be found by visual inspection.
Valve stuff is a bit dangerous if you're not used to it.
If its solid state then its not all that different to hi-fi.

I've no experience messing with these things but my dad would be of use. What do I need to look for exactly?
