Quick Question on an NCT failure I just had!

    Exhaust Emissions
    Low Idle (780 rpm)

    CO 0.01 vol% (fail above 0.50%) PASS
    HC 14ppm (fail above 0ppm) N/A

    High Idel (3,180 rmp)
    Lambda 1.24 (limits between 0.97 - 1.03) FAIL
    CO 0.01 vol% (fail above 30%) PASS
HC 15 ppm (fail above 200ppm) PASS

These are the results and as you can see, I failed for a high lambda value! From my basic understanding I would assume that the actual lambda sensor in the engine is working because my emissions are good? Is it more likely I have an air leak in the exhaust somewhere which leads to the high lambda value when tested with the exhaust probe? Any opinions on if I am interpreting this correctly would be appreciated, or opinions as to what actually might be wrong?

    Cheers :)

First of all, go get it connected to a computer and read the faults off your car, if the lambda fault will show up, simply just replace the sensor, if not - well that could mean anything else like exhaust, converter... Don't really know. My sisters Polo failed on emissions and turned out it was EGR valve, so really, without connecting to a computer you won't know anything...

Resurrecting this old thread to say, ye there was an air leak in the intake manifold which was sorted with some super glue :)

    Passed, and going grand again.
