Collecting multiple weekly payments for a service

I'm looking into launching a new service based business, I will need to collect a small amount of money from (hopefully) a large amount of clients on a weekly basis. The obvious answer is to have them set up direct debits, but is there any other options?

    TIA

Paypal? I hate paypal but it is an option. They have an auto-bill service.

The amount of money is so little (less than €10) that I think the fees may be too high?

Having said that, if the customer was happy to pay the fee's then it could work. I will look into it. Thank you!

    Hi,

I have one of those Easy pass gadgets for the toll bridge. The company that run it have my credit card details.
This is becoming a well accepted method of collecting payments. Most people have credit/laser cards. I only have to change my details whith the company when the card expires.

Perhaps you could process the payments against their credit cards. I dont think you would get away with making them pay the merchants fees.

But the easy pass charge your card a minimum of €40 and when u use that up they charge it again.. They don't charge €2 to ur card every time u go over the toll... They charge me €160 each time cause I use the tolls so much, when I've nearly used up that €160 they just charge it again...

    Hi

I only used Easy pass as an example of how you can charge small amounts ( for me it's about 38.00 per month ), on a regular basis to a credit card.
If Barry wants to charge 10.00 per week to someone credit card, I don't think people would have a problem with this

Payment Bureaus such as PayPal offer recurring payments from credit cards but they tend to be more expensive than using a payment service provider (PSP) and merchant account. The reason being it is much easier to get setup with paypal than the PSP/merchant account route. I did some blog posts last year on the payment service providers who offer recurring payment solutions in Ireland. It might be useful if you are going down the route of recurring payments from credit/debit cards.
