I know this is probably a noob thing to ask but here it goes.
I bought an Apple iPhone 3GS today, unlocked, not jailbroken.
Bought it for the better half because she wasn't enjoying the HTC Wildfire, while I have no probs with my HTC Desire.
I popped the Meteor sim in and while the calls and texts are fine, it refuses to log onto the data network.
    Any ideas why?
Do I have to input the data comm settings manually?
Bear in mind now I haven't plugged this into the pc and itunes yet,
will this configure the phone for internet access?

Any thoughts or links are welcome.
    Thanks

Will input them as soon as she gets home from work with her new toy!
    Thanks for that.

As an aside I have just seen that Meteor seem to be offering the settings, downloadable from their site, for the 3GS, is this the same thing?

    Just wondering!

I take back almost everything I said about the iphone, almost!

they seem to offer them but they are only ther as an archiev item, when you actually go to send them you deffo wont get them sent to your phone.

use the settings i posted above and it will work perfect.

is she on PAYG or bill pay?
she really should have a data plan too.

Its a data plan, bill pay, on Meteor, same as mine, with 2gb a month, works beautifully on my Desire but simply needs to be set up on the allegedly "user friendly" iPhone!
She never warmed to the Sense interface or the fact that the Android Market doesn't have quite the same range of apps that the App Store has.
Not a problem for me, but a problem for her.
Still, once I have the settings in, problems solved! (and I can clog up the device with all the games that I want to get for it!)

it would be user friendly and set up for you if meteor stocked the iPhone, but as you know they dont so you have to set up the settings yourself.

i used to have to input all the mms/data settings for my old Sony Erickson phones before Meteor started stocking them.

Is this not the sarcasm smiley? :p
And while not a new user of boards, I am a new user to these apple threads, so thanks for the consideration, the iPhone is working great (for an iPhone! :p see how that works?)
