What's the best way to grate ginger finely? Is there a device for doing this?

I freeze my ginger and use a Microplane grater.
Freezing it makes it last and the microplane is sharp enough to deal with the frozen ginger and also give yourself a very unique graze if you are not careful.
I had one of the mini microplanes with a S/S handle but the actual grater part detached from the wire frame. I still use the grater but as a Parmesan grater rather than for hard stuff like frozen ginger.

I freeze it too and use a little nutmeg grater. Does the job!

What a great idea! I use a microplane grater - got it in Avoca (where they also have nifty little garlic choppers). Will try this.
