posted on bb forum to no avail

I'm duel booting vista homeprem SP2 and fedora 13. There is a marked decrease in navigation speed between firefox on both OS. The fedora firefox is crawling to navigate but good to download large files. The firefox on the vista is very consistant.

Any ideas? Using intergrated lan on the motherboard I think intel chip

I've tried other distro too but all the same issue - mandriva, suse

you might get a better response in the unix forum.

This seems like a strange problem and not one I have had with linux specifically. But, generally, if I know I have a good stable connection and yet pages are slow to open -in that there are long pauses between say requesting a web page & the display- it's often a DNS issue. Each unique url on page must be looked up so if there is a issue with DNS it will appear as long delays but then suddenly the image of file download performs to expectations. I would note, then compare, the network (particularly the DNS) settings between the vista that works and the fedora that doesn't.

Maybe disable IPv6 ...... about:config in browser and search for IPv6 and ensure disable is true.

    It might help .....
