Nissan Maxima Starting Issue

    Friend of mine is currently taxiing one a 2000 facelift 2.0 Manual, a lovely car. But recently he's had a few issues with it, when stopped in traffic it will cut out and refuse to start, but will start on a push?

    He's had it to three diffent Mecanics, the car has been put on the computer, the usuall suspects have been gone through fuel pump, airflow meter, spark plugs, coils, starter, fuel filter.

    And has stumped all three of them, the last chance saloon is Nissan Main Dealers, he described the problem over the phone and your man said the ECU has had it and would cost €2000!! The car isnt worth that!

    So any advice or experence on the issue would be greatly helped!

    hi my dad has the exact same problem he has a 01 QX and it wont start in the mornings... make a sound as if its about t turn over but just wont ... ive to give the car a pull to get it goin....

    hes had so much done to it.... eerything u mention....timing chain...new starter... but the mechanic said there doesn seem to be any power in coil 1 and 6 and that he needs a new ECM ...

    have you found any more of what the fault was with your friends car ??

    Daniel McGann out near Ashbourne specialises in them, top guy. Search for maxima on donedeal.ie and you should find his number, otherwise send me a PM.
    Mine was giving trouble starting recently but seems to have cured itself.
    With the mention of push/pull starting I assume both cars are manual, a big aul' barge like the maxima should have auto as standard :D

    yeah 1st thing we did was change the battery.... yeah daniel hes dropping out to him on monday he has a maxima for sale for cheap says it only needs shocks so seems like a much smarter option ...
