Get a second hand DS Lite or wait for 3DS?

I had a DS Lite ages ago but I bolloxed it by spilling Doctor Pepper on it. I finally managed to get the thing open after a few years, but couldn't see any obvious damage. I also managed to break the power switch, and it has to be resoldered apparently, so **** that. Unless there's somewhere that'll do a cheap repair job it's kind of pointless, it was probably fried anyway(though it did turn on briefly each time, so maybe not).

I'm considering getting a DS Lite as I really miss playing Phoenix Wright in bed and all that. However if the 3DS is coming out; it might be better to wait and see? Otherwise I'll pay quite a bit for a DSL now and have to fork out for a 3DS again. I probably won't get much for the Lite.

I'm also very interested in the Homebrew scene; I notice someone's made a Touhou game for the DS and everything. I'd be kind of interested in attempting my own games now they have that Danmaku engine. The 3DS may initially block that sort of thing out.

Also; If i do get a second hand Lite, where is the best place to get one? I'm not too bothered about getting one with games, I have some I want to play already lying around(well, mostly GBA games actually), though one or two would be handy.

I was going to buy a DSi XL a little while ago (my DS lite is broken too) but have decided to wait for the 3DS. Would be a waste of money. I'd say wait.

If you can get a good clean second hand DS Lite for 50-60quid get one! It still has the longest batt life, and is GBA compatible!

    That's true yeah.

I was thinking with the 3Ds, it might take a while to get good games. It's nice being an early adopter and having a flashy gadget to show off and appreciating the tech while it's still something new, etc., but if it's not any fun then it's pointless.

Where's the best place to buy a second hand DS lite though?

e-bay ..or boards ...I got mine from adverts.ie at a very decent price .... so..I'd have a look there.

And to stay on topic..go for the DS lite and then wait for nintendo to come up with their 3DS "lite" (as they ALWAYS do that)

If you really need a DS fix, pick up one of the fat DS's. They go for €30-40 these days. Exact same as the DS lite just chunkier and the screen isn't as bright. Also has the GBA slot for your GBA games :)

Sandvich, if I remember correctly there's boardsie around here called Witnessmenow who fixes these little things. I think it would be worth a try pming him.

I'm hoping this little bad boy won't be too expensive.

At this point I'd honestly hold out for the 3DS, unless you fancy playing GBA games then I'd get the Lite.
