UFH and Wooden Floors

Why do most people in Ireland put UFH into the slab. Surely under timber floors would be more suited for working people who are not at home all day. Thats the main benefit I see of using the thermal mass for heating.

I know there are other costs e.g Junckers systems etc and particular types of timber need to be used.

I would be interested if anyone had comparable running costs.

Personally I was involved installing 3 systems in the states all under timber floors whereas the only time I came across it here was on an episode of Grand Designs from 2001 I think.
