If you have a full B licence you can apply for the EB Leaner Permit.

If you have a full C license you can apply for the EC Leaner Permit.

Either get EC or D, there's a separate theory test for D. No point in going for EC1 or EB as you get these when you pass EC.

it really is a money racket these days.its after costing me over 1500 euro to get up to a provisional ec. now another grand to get the full. and then more money for the bus licence.

had to laugh the other day. was talking to a lad the other day. back in the 80s all he need doing was get a provisional artic licence and if you pass you get everything.

i think it is stupid. if you can drive a ridget you can drive a coash

Coach driving is slightly different to rigid. The load is more precious for coaches so you have to react to hazards differently.

Don't forget that back in the 80s at one stage if you failed you car test and reapplied you got a full licence. Things have changed and unfortunately it's going to cost money to do anything now.

Not too sure of the details but I'll go with what I remember. Back in the late 70's we had a huge backlog of people waiting on their full licences. The government decided that the easiest way to solve the problem was to give anyone on their 2nd or subsequent provisional a full licence without doing the test. Not quite the fail and get a licence but very close

You sure you get the EB automatically when you get the EC? Does it show up on your license?

    Yes and yes.

When I passed my artic test I went to the motor tax office the next day with the pass cert, old licence and form. At the time all I had on my licence was B and C. I ticked the boxes on the form for B, EB, C, EC and handed it all to the person behind the counter. She looks it over and says I had no EB on my old licence. I told her that I'd just passed a test to drive a 44t artic so surely I'd be OK to drive EB. She then asked the person in the next seat what the E was for:confused:

When I passed D, I also got ED when I got my licence and I've only passed the EC test.
