seen it at the weekend. Its terrible. They finally got a good colour for the home jersey and now they mess with the alternative one.

It isn't the same blue as the training top. It's so gay looking.

From the start we should have kept the old Canterbury sponsorship.
I'd say by now we would have a verrrryy nice jersey, some proper kit and a decent brand too...

Who are those hot male models? And why are they so happy? That photo needs Mick Galwey.

The last away shirt with O2 as sponsors looked very like the English shirt.

And I don't think white has being very lucky for any of our international teams, soccer included.

It still is NOT a great shirt.

I think we should wear orange as our alternative strip. It doesn't clash with any other major teams, and in all fairness the Ulster boys from the 6 counties should have a bit of representation. If we're going to view Irish rugby as an 32 county sport, then I think it would be good to give a nod to the fact that not everyone on the team is 'green' and playing in orange the odd time would be a good thing.

just a point....what colour do Northern Ireland play in?.......what colour do Ulster play in?

the white strip is still the away strip

this new one in the thrid strip and will rarely feature

ireland will play in Green against SA in November as they agreed to this when the fixture was arranged....i.e. to mark first game at new stadium

I have seen it in the flesh and I think its alright as a bit of Rugby fashion a la some of the french stuff

i certainly wouldnt want them playing in it every week though

Oh right- I didn't grasp this. The website lists the white strip as "09" & the blue strip as "10" so I presumed the blue strip was the new 2010/11 away strip.

Not so bad if it's just leisure wear, but I would hate if the team actually played in it.

    In rugby? Green.
.......what colour do Ulster play in?
White, mainly. But that doesn't mean a whole lot. Munster play in red, and we don't have that in the national flag.

I just don't think that people should be afraid of the national team playing in Orange. It's a part of the fabric of the whole island, part of the tricolour flag too. So, it ought to suit everyone.

White is just pretty awful - boring (like England).

I dont have a problem with an orange jersey

my point is that green and white strips represent the whole island and Northern players should be just as comfortable in green or white as those from the South

orange is not part of Ulster/NI team colours AFAIK

Who cares? Different sport, different ethos in terms of how we play it as a country / island etc.

And nor is the green that we wear as a national team represented in the provincial colours (the Connaught one is quite a different shade) ... I don't think the provincial colours need to be represented as part of the national team - the national team should represent the whole of the island, and I just think that wearing orange would be a nice way to do that!

In the same way that I am not mad on the national anthem being sung before home games (if the team played in Ravenhill, do you think everyone would be happy with God Save the Queen being played?), I just think that the players and supporters from the North get a bit of a raw deal and would like to see things evened out a bit. Perhaps a dash of orange on the main strip!

its a joke we can only sing it at home games.. but thats for a different day. That jersey is mank.. simple as

Green and White are the colours of the IRFU.

The whole point of the thing is not to make it political, so where does orange come into things!?

What?Northern Ireland don't have a rugby team,if they have any at all it would just be for the Commonwealth games.

Anyone clear this up , is this our new away shirt and the white one is not anymore? Are we ever going to wear it? why would they get rid of white ?

Saw it in shops yesterday, a disgusting jersey. They used another blue jersey for the Bayonne match before the last world cup too, was a bit nicer, but not by much:

BTW: Apologies for the choice of clip, it's the only one I could find where you can see the jersey properly.

I think the shirt designers in Puma must be colour blind, was gutted when I saw it in Elvery's.

It's just NOT a national color, regardless of political divides and imaginary lines in the ground.

Green, white, orange should really be the only colors even considered. The orange representing the protestant traditions is absolutely fine by me. But turquoise? What does that represent?
I know that there is blue in the provincial flags of Connacht and Leinster, but both of those are royal blues.

Who really cares what it represents, it's just plain and simple a hideous jersey and I wouldn't wear it if you paid me, not the exact thinking you want fans to have if you're marketing a new jersey.

My understanding was that international rugby teams don't have "home" and "away" jerseys. All teams have their primary jersey and an alternative one.

The alternative is always white (unless the primary jersey is also white, of course) and is only worn in games where the two teams' jerseys clash. In this case, the home team wears their alternative one, as a show of respect to the visitors. You get the odd exception, like the forthcoming match with SA in the new Lansdowne Rd.

This new effort wouldn't work very well as an alternative jersey, as it is quite close to green and could potentially still clash with a green opposition.

Blue very much IS a national colour.

The turquoise is not a national color. You have a light blue in Connacht (sometimes a royal blue), a royal blue in Leinster, a royal blue on the presidential flag.

Either way, as someone replied earlier, it's a horrible color and not a nice jersey regardless.

Whats scaring me is the amount of people I've seen wearing it.
