    Depends on spec/condition etc.

As a general rule, take the average of the prices on carzone(comparing like with like - cars in same condition and with similar mileage)., price yours towards the lower (depending on whether you need a quick sale or want to hold out for true value) end of the scale

if i had that car on the forcourt id hope to sell it with a warranty and fully serviced for about 5k. private sale you should expect to get between 4&5. i have bought a few 03s with similar mileage recently and paid less than your thinking. be realistic and you wont be let down, put it up for 2 much and ya'll only drive yourself mad! i know plenty of people here will probably disagree with me but i do this for a living and sell lots of audis and vw. ask about 5500 and go from there

Then why is an audi dealer looking for 7750 for this, not arguing with your point or anything, because that seems a crazy price

    http://www.carzone.ie/search/Audi/A4/2.0i-Sal/201013197417790/advert?channel=CARS

even that dealer askin for 5750 and its petrol with high mileage

the first car is way over priced and will probably be there longer than the 120 days the 2nd one has on been already. plus its an audi dealer, they are always gonna price their cars higher, im indipendent and will put a realistic price on a car.

    Well its a good guideline.

    as i already said above
Its not a good guideline at all, he is selling the car privatly, you cannot compare that to a dealer selling same car with warranty and serviced ect.

OP just out of interest has the timing belt been done on your car yet?

Yep by an audi main dealer

In the end i decided to price it by compring it against the private sellers on carzone.

A 2005 version of the same car is worth around €10k. A 2001 version, in the order of €3,000

Talk of €7,000 is dreamland stuff.

you wouldnt have a link to 2001 a4 for €3000?

I wouldn't, because there are no links to "Selling" prices.

Fair play to you if you can get anything close to €7k, but anyone paying that amount for a nine year old car needs their head examined.

As an example, the ROS website quotes

    Ah, thanks.

OP asked for opinions, then gets upset when he gets one he doesn't like, eh?

He asked for a link to a Selling Price, I gave him a link to a Selling price. Can anyone else post something different? Something apart from delusional sellers asking sky-high amounts?

He didnt ask for a link he asked for opinions from people who might know more than him, no one is getting upset about what you said but i was mearley pointing out that revenue is the WORST place to get a value for your car. you gave him a link to a selling price from an agency that doesnt sell cars and knows VERY little about them

He didnt ask for a link .........

    Well, actually, he did!

i think you might have missed the sarchasim:D, and really its not a link to a car for that price is it??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,156 ✭✭✭DubDani

IMO 4.5K would be a fair price, but I think he will be lucky to get that. If he wants to sell it, then he should be prepared to take 4000-4200 Euro.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,340 ✭✭✭mullingar

Cash private sale?? I'd advertise it for 4,750.

If it doesn't shift in a month, 4,250 as you are coming into back-to-school season people simply dont have the money!.

After all, it is a nine year old car :)

OP if this helps I was in an 05 face lift A4 TDI with 75K miles on the clock in Frank Hogans in Limerick. Its not on their website yet but is similar to this one

    http://frankhogan07.webzone.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=Car&carID=201032199193851&message=You%20searched%20for:%20Audi%20A4,%20Oldest:%202004,%20Newest:%202005,%20Dealer:%20Frank%20Hogan.%20Your%20search%20returned%20one%20vehicle,%20which%20is%20shown%20below.&CFID=30161695&CFTOKEN=41781719

It came with a full AUDI service history, everything done incl new TB and waterpump and a 6 months gaurantee

In a straight deal cash price deal it was mine for €10k

I would price yours at around €4k for a realistic sale price

you wouldnt have a link to 2001 a4 for €3000?

This is close and has a realistic price
