    Hi all,
basically I was a drunken fool last week and was given a section 5 and a court date.
Only problem is that I have work training and the court date falls on one of these days (Trust me they will let me go, I had to cancel a holiday just so I could be there for the last day).
Is it anyway possible at all to do it, like even pay a fine to my Garda station.
Should I contact a Sergent about it?
If anyone can help you will really be helping me out as I have been unemployed for a year and can't receive any more social welfare, so if I lose this job then I am pretty much SCREWED!

Section 5 of what? Is it a Public Order Act 1994 Sec 5? If so is that all it is and all you've been charged with? Please explain what happened re incident, arrest, detention?

    Yeah its that one alright.
I was very drunk last week, and my mate thought it would be a good idea to go a garda station and complain about a garda. Why oh why we thought this was a good idea was another question.
We were told to leave and come back when sober but my friend kept wanting to make a complain and there was some cheekyness. No swearing towards a guard.
Next thing you know the guard came around from the desk and arrests me, grabs me by the shoulder and brings me into a room.
Gave all my details etc... and I think I was in the cell for around half an hour.
Then given this court order sheet.
I am ashamed of what I have done, I have given up drink for a while do. But I really cant afford to go to court on the set date as that will ruin my life.

sorry, i'm not qualified to give legal advice. from what i've heard and if it is indeed a charge sheet (and not a a fixed charged processing ticket) then you should consult with a solicitor. otherwise another person on this forum may be able to help.

Solicitor. This is not inline with the charter.

Get a solicitor who practises in the District Court area involved to contact the Gárda - give him/her some documentation about your course.

Avoid going drinking that friend again - what were ye thinking of?

God knows , Im stopping drinking for a good while now.

Thanks for yours and toms advice on a solicitor. Would it cost me much to get him/her for this. As my family are on low incomes

Its nothing to do with your family's income it's to do with your income. Speak to a solicitor man and tell them your predicament (including your lack of money) they may be able to help there really are some excellent solicitor's out there.
