What to do

I am just after sitting my repeat exams which I had to do as I completely failed two but I decided to do another one in an effort to up my grade to a 2.1 but after sitting them, I feel that one I didnt get my 2.1 and second I may have completely failed another one (which would result in me repeating the every since module I did in final year and paying about €7500 to repeat + rent, living exps and being unemployed for that year) so I am a bit worried about that.

But the plan for now is to try and find a job, but I have very little experience and its a bit daunting to start looking for jobs. My course was a science degree in IT. I was just looking online and it seems that there is very little graduate jobs and they are all looking for 2.1/1.1 degrees + experience all of which I dont have.

I am also unsure what area I want to go into as I am very weak at certain aspects of my degree. I am was thinking just try and apply for everything but I was thinking should I try and doing some projects that I could talk about in jobs interviews (though that said I did do a lot of projects in college but if I was asked to program it up and show them how I did it I wouldnt be as I just spent hours messing around with the code and by getting help of some of my class mates and lectures).

One of my friends was telling me I should look for jobs in like shops etc and that until I find something in relation to my degree but I would think that may be even harder to find in the current climate. It has also be suggested to me to try do none paid work experience for a few weeks but I have no idea how to even go about doing that.

I was just wondering does anyone have advice on what I should do?

Firstly, wait for the results - you might have gotten what you wanted.

Secondly, I think the work experience advice is spot on. By all means apply for anything that seems suitable/attractive but also apply for the Work Placement Programs on fas.ie. They're somewhat controversial but could be great for someone in your position.

Your biggest issue seems to me that you don't know what you want to do. That's very common so a placement in a particular industry would give you some practical exposure to a potential path.

As for the degree results, it's by no means the end of the world. My boyfriend dropped out of his course after several failed attempts and has been doing brilliantly in the job he got soon afterwards. If you have the right attitude it will work out.
