Hi, I have a Wifi connection so do not have a router. I am wondering how I can go about setting up VOIP. I am looking to have a setup that does not rely on my PC being switched on. Is there any device I can buy that can pick up my wifi signal and that I could plug the Voip phone into?

VoIP quality relies on a good and stable broadband connection, so if you're using a wifi that you don't have control on, you're taking a risk.

The Siemens OptiPoint WL2 Pro handset can take a wifi signal to run a SIP service. No need for a computer to be on.

It's not super easy to set up though, see :

Most newish mobile phones will now support SIP client activity. For example, I use Blueface for my VOIP and put Fring app on my Iphone. I can use my Blueface account anywhere that has a free WIFI signal.

Yes, that's the other solution. Nokia E series have and integrated SIP client otherwise any smartphone with a 3rd party SIP client (SIPDroid on Android phones, Fring or Acrobits on iPhones).
