    Hi everyone!
I've been following this forum for a while now but only now did I find it appropriate to start my own topic.
So I've been in Ireland for a couple of years now, I'm not originally from here but I find Ireland a great place to live.
My husband joined me last November hoping we could start our life together here. But (of course there is always a but...) he has, so far, been unable to find a job. His background in is logistics, mostly distribution and warehousing). Now, he is very good at what he does having worked for 2 major international companies but so far, no offers.
I have to deal with the likes of DHL and suppliers, etc and the way logistics is run in this country is terrible I mean I ordered 10 products from a company the other day, not only did DHL lost half of my order but they sent me notebooks instead of a labelling machine (come on!!!!).
What I don't understand is that clearly most managers in charge of warehousing and logistics here have about half the experience my husband has yet, he is unable to find a job! He can't even get a team leader position even though he is very experienced and has excellent references.
And to make matters worst we have dealt with about every recruitment agency in Ireland and I'd say about 97% don't even bother answering!
WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON????????
ok, ranting over, any advice would be appreciated.
    Man, I can´t even spell I'm so mad :)

A friend of mine works in this area and unfortunately these companies are merging and cutting back on staff numbers quite heavily. Also they are hiring based on cost and not experience. My friend has been told that he and a lot of his colleagues will be losing their jobs in the New Year.

I would advise your husband to try and see if he can map his experience and skills into another industry and seek employment there as I don't see the logistics/distribution industry picking up in any way for the next two years.
