It's been over a week since you asked, but you can buy an unlock code online at HTC Unlock. You pay by paypal and they send you a code within half an hour.

I haven't used them (my Desire is unlocked) but I know someone who has, and they said it worked perfectly for them. Also, a good mate of mine used these guys - http://www.htcsimunlock.com/ - and got his code within 10 mins. It worked perfectly.

Just wondering whether the OP had any success with either of those links? I tried both with no success. The first site wouldn't let me pay for credit to get the code and the second one came back saying they were unable to find the code. Got a full refund though to be fair.
