Help with Hijack this

    Hi I cant seem to run a hijack this scan. I get an error message saying 'for some reason denied write access to the host files. If any hijacked domains are in this file hijack this may not be able to fix this. It then asked me to edit the file myself... but when i click start , run and type

    notepad C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts all i get is

    in the notepad where am i going wrong... any help would be greatly appreciated. my computer has slowed away down over the past week. ty

    GenericAskToolbar in your logs is flagged as nasty in the analysis tool. It needs to be sorted.

    Head over to the Virus & Malware Removal forum, read the "I think I have a virus" - Please Read & Try BEFORE Posting (Updated 12/02/2010) sticky and carry out as many of the instructions in that thread, then start a new thread posting the relevant logs. Someone (probably ASJ112) will be along to help but only once you do those tasks.

    Thanks for your help Tricky D. I went through all the tasks and found adware with i removed. I also removed asktoolbar completly. Still lagging so i posted a thread like you said and included the 3 scans. Maybe you could have a look if you get time so see if there is a problem.
