Came across this offer and thought it might be of interest to some on here....

    http://www.countymeathgolfclubtrim.ie/SPECIAL.HTM

Membership is only €1,500 till the end of 2011 and that includes the entrance fee which if I'm right used to be €7,000 so thats great going.

Played County Meath twice and from what I remembered it was a nice little parkland course, so for 17 months membership and entrance fee it appears very good value.

Co Meath entrance fee was 5000.
Rathcore is now only charging a 12 month fee of 860 for Men and 450 for Ladies - wow!

Oh €5,000 thanks for that, still a good drop in price. Anyone know what their near neighbours Knightbrooks are charging these days?

€860 for Rathcore, although not my favourite course but is very good value at that price, think they used to have a hefty joining fee also.

A Neighbour of mine manages one of the Knightsbrook sister hotels in Trim and said the Knightsbrook is flat out with wedddings and functions . the course is fine as it is part of the Hotel , It's in good stead , So much so her husband took out membership recently and he's a Cavan man who wouldn't part with cash if he thought it wasn't going to last the year .......

Well well wide of the mark there.

Can't understand how people can suggest / imply various opinions about "troubled" courses when they clearly are not based upon any actual fact???

Hotel is doing well with weddings and golf course is performing relatively well also.
Share membership was available this year from individual members at their discretion on cost but afaik this system is only in place until September when course will introduce new membership offer for 2011.

Any idea on what the 2011 membership offer will be? Can’t see a course like Knightsbrook offering too low a sub, it cant be cheap maintaining such a big course.

Well worth joining, a terrific course IMO.

Definitely wide of the mark on knightsbrook. Stayed there at end of July for a wedding on the Friday but made a weekend out of it. The place was hopping busy all weekend with weddings every day. We were going to play there on the saturday and thought we would have no hassle getting out in afternoon, it was booked out from 8 till after 5:eek: Go out in rathcore instead, great liitle track. I think €1000 a years subs is good value for Knightsbrook given its location and facilities. Also just over €800 is cracking value for rathcore IMO.
