As much as he deserves it, I think Roche would be the more popular choice in the public eye.

I along with 120 other cyclists spent the past 4 days in the mans company with TourdeMunster.
He has time for everybody, whether working up and down the paceline or at the feedstops, when folks would just come up and ask for photos.
A true ambassador for the sport and the country. Giant of a man.

When I saw him at his tour last year, I couldn't believe how many people he had time for (including myself). He was asking guys about other guys and family and stuff, he came across as very down to earth. I don't think he realises he's a legend.

I just had a thought. I can't remember seeing this programme before, but I remember us trying to get Kelly votes. Anyway, I bet I saw it already and previously posted here about it and now have completely forgot.

Roche is one of two men to win the triple crown, the other being the greatest of all time!!

Will be annoyed if he isnt in the top three!! (and i'm pretty sure that gob****e presenting said Kelly was the only cyclist in the list!!)

Golf is most certainly a sport, walk around a hilly golf course and you'll know all about it. Harrington was the man of the year in 2008 so was still fresh in everyones memory when that list went out. Not my top 10 but everyone's would probably be different.

This is Probably the 50th time this is shown on Rte. Roche saying "if I may say so myself, I was a classy cyclist". Is that the one?

eh why not just go hillwalking then? golf is not a sport. not a high enough chance of proper injury.

    these are games not sports.

"i'm taking up darts, golf and snooker to get in shape" doesnt have the same ring to it!!

Golf is something i'll play when i am physically incapable of anything else.........
