Counselling Courses and Ethics

I would welcome a discussion on the following piece of research that I've undertaken about a Psychotherapy training course in Ireland.

Firstly the accreditation of their course is accredited by a 'branch off' their own institute. Interestingly the Ethics Committee of the accreditating body consists mainly of the Member of Staff of the training institute. Strange eh?

    It gets stranger.

Secondly HETAC who is the awarding body for third level training istitutions outside of the University sector has validated this training institute. On closer inspection we see that the 'Panel of Experts' that visited this institute in order to validate their courses is made up of two key members of staff of this institute. In fact one is the 'Dean of Studies'!! See the attached document

    http://www.hetac.ie/docs/NCII Panel Report.pdf

Am I the only person that sees all of this information as a serious conflict of interest? What worries me most is that this is happening in the area of Counselling and Psychotherapy where ethical considerations such as honesty, integrity and congruence are valued and expected.

Has this country learned nothing about political corruption?

    I would welcome some comments.

Airy, this has already been discussed at length and heatedly, repeatedly. I suggest you look through some old threads; and maybe point you at the Sticky on Statutory Registration. Now I'm going to lock this as a preventative measure in case the heated debate loses the run of itself, as we aren't always online to moderate immediately to prevent potentially libellous posts.
