Help Needed - Nintendo DS Lite Wi Fi

So I got the DS I spoke about in this thread

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055995377

Got a good deal for a second hand portable

Anyway, I'm trying to set up Wireless play for a few games, so I opened the main menu on my DS - this screen here, except not in French obviously

    menu_nintendo.jpg

    - and clicked DS Download Play - and the system just started "looking for software available for download" (I've not entered any Internet details or even told it where it can log onto the Internet, and it just doesn't leave this page) and when I ask it to cancel, the console automatically turns off, this is the only option I seem to have.

So, what I'm asking is, does anyone else have this problem? How long will it take to realise it is not connected to the Internet or it can't find relevant software and how long before I can start using my Nintendo DS online?

    Any help would be appreciated

DS Download play is only applicable if someone else has started a game, selected a multiplayer option and becomes a game host. When they do this, if you click the DS Download play option on your DS, it should detect the other player and download an executable portion from their DS (so you can play multiplayer without a cartridge)

If you want to play with someone (on the net or someone who also has a copy of the game you're playing), start WiFi (if playing with someone not in the room), start a game and initiate a connection from there. Don't use the DS Download Play option.

If playing over the internet, make sure the game has internet connectivity over WiFi (as opposed to local connectivity only).
