i have a very bad tooh at the back my mouth up top, a large part of it has come off some how unknown to me and has left a hole in my gum and half this tooth is still there and food seems to become stuck in it and it becomes so painful to the extent i feel like screaming and clenching my jaw together so hard to try ease it

here comes my issue my medical card has expired this month but have sent the relevant forms for a new one in but still noting so im wondering where i stand?
the dentist is closed today for some strange reason so i cant ask him/her
so is it possible for the dentist to go ahead with it knowing the card has been applied for and charging the HSE or am i just at a loss untill i get it which could be weeks of suffering on my part

i really need this thing out and something done with the hole in my gum i cant eat drink or speak with out it causing me extreme pain

Not too sure about you issue with the med card, depends on if you dentist knows you well. Usually I would charge private fees and refund if the HSE pay the claim. Emergency treatment would be 80-100 euro, otherwise you could try the dental hospital.

A&E in the dental hospital charge on acceptance ( they operate a triage system and don't accept everyone ) if you don't have a valid medical card, the promise of one is no good I am afraid. Think is about 50-70 euro unsure of the exact amount. You have missed the intake for today its 9-10am and 2-3pm. Seriously if you don't want a night of it, get off the computer and go out and get it sorted before everywhere closes.

iv try'd the local places no one will see me straight away its consultation first to see how much time is to be used and then its an appointment for the work to be done
also no medical card yet and aint got a penny i guess ill have to ask the welfare officer in the morning to see where i stand to see if she can do anything, there is a dentist in my local health centre but i only ever see kids in it tho which is strange

Would love to know how you got on at the dentist Spiderpig? It sounds like you have an infection. I had the same thing happen, and my half a tooth and gapping hole is still here...1 year on!

I was at the dentist last week and he told me that the removing of the tooth and implant will be between 2 to 3grand
What options did the dentist give you?

I had the same thing happen to me, half my tooth broke off but I didn't feel any pain. I knew I should have gone to the dentist but I didn't feel any pain so I didn't.

Last week I had one night of no sleep and the pain was the worse than you can imagine. I went to the dentist the next day and had it removed.

My Dad got 4 dental implants done in Spain for a fraction of what it would have cost here! I might get my one done next time I'm over. :D

If your in the market for dental implants I hope your not applying for another medical card. You can get a dental implant fully restored in ireland for less than 2500 euro, and then if something goes wrong you dont have to fly to the costa del sol to get it fixed.

Applying for another Medical card? Me, never had one.

My mum is Spanish and they both live over there for most of the year so I do go over quiet a few times a year, 6 times so far this year. You could easily fly over and back in a day! Anyway its just one wisdom tooth so I'm not to worried, if it was 4, that would be a different story. :D
