Insurance Disk Problem

I renewed my insurance with a new company last week. Sent off my no claims discount (and faxed it to them) and they said they haven't received it yet. They have told me via email that I am fully insured but cant issue the disk until they revive the letter with the no claims discount.

Where does that leave me with driving? My insurance this is out of date tomorrow

Should they not be sending you a temp disc to be used until everything is sorted?

once they give you a policy number you are insured. if stopped by the gardai they will be able to check up the policy number and give you (normally) 10 days to produce your insurance certificate

Wasnt aware you could get a temp one.

I've asked them get give me the policy number so hopefully that would be ok

Some companies will issue a temp disc but most don't. Ask them for a letter of cover. This won't completely satisfy the guards but generally they will give you 10 days to produce a cert to your local station.
Send the new certificate of bonus by reg post to the company.

Given you have emails and stuff, I'd print those out and keep them in the car - should be enough if you get stopped tomorrow (at least enough to get you 10 days to produce).

My girlfriend is actually in a similar position (awaiting a copy of replacement license) and after much toing and froing she is being sent out a letter which the insurance company have assured her will be sufficient in place of a disc.

I didnt realise that all companies didnt sent out temp discs. Any company Ive ever dealt with have done.

A temp disk is new one for me. Never heard of it before.
