Looking for my mam who's the registered name on the mobile broadband account. I told them she wasn't here and that I'd happily pass on any message to her when she gets home. Same yada yada about not being able to pass on information to anyone not registered with the account.

Any idea what they might be ringing for? I'm still in my monthly limit 10.37gb left from 15. I don't see any contract changes on the website. We didn't pay the bill which was sent 8 days ago would this be why they called?

An unusual question I know but I'm worried I'll get into trouble for torrenting and other stuff, I use the broadband mam pays for it.

Hardly helpful? I'm being serious here.
I'm just wondering do they reveal that kinda info? and why would they ring if I haven't gone over the limit.

I'd highly doubt they would go into the specifics of your 'search history'. I assume they think your mom is the person who is using the BB? If so they're hardly going to remind her of stuff they presume she has been looking up etc. I don't think 3 have a problem with torrenting like Eircom do although I could be wrong. It's probably a payment issue or new offers etc. Sorry about the first comment I just had that image in my head and laughed :P

Probably over the bill, a reminder call about the payment been due or if your getting close to the end of your contract they might be trying to get your mum to extend it another 12 or 18 months.

Hehe no bother. No it's me solely that uses the internet, she pays for it (only because you have to be 18 to get mobile broadband). We didn't pay the bill so it's (hopefully) probably that.

They'll be trying to sell her something, that's the only reason they'd ring you. Any account issues would be done in writing.

My guess. You have a 1 year contract, the contract is up in October. They will offer you a new modem 'free' without telling you that this means they will extend the contract for another 1.5 or 2 years on the sly.

The good news is that you may exit any such 'new' contract simply by telling them to produce their recording of the contract negotiation ( where they never mentioned the contract extension) while keeping the modem. Say a lot of 'I can't understand you please speak slowly and clearly' so that is recorded on the record.

No they're not - 3 will always ring you to say that the bill hasn't been paid - I had a mobile with them for 11 months and not once in that time could they process a direct debit so they eneded phoning me to remind me that my bill hadn't been paid.
