There's a bit of confusion on a thread in the Gentlemen's Club.

Can someone here confirm that a married man has more paternal rights than a cohabitating father with guardianship? And if so, please explain how and what those rights are?

An unmarried father with guardianship rights has the exact same rights/responsibilities with respect of their childrens care/up-bringing as a married father.

Marriage simply grants a father rights/responsibilities automatically whereas guardianship needs to be applied for.

    The two differ unfortunately:
Fathers who have been appointed joint guardians by a court or by statutory declaration can be removed from their position if the court is satisfied it is in the child's best interest.

As such they are the same except that one can be lost and the other cannot as it was not gained through a court or by statutory declaration.
