Is it possible to split the feed from an LNB to two boxes.

The power supply to the second LNB would be turned off in the installer menu.

If possible what are the downsides.

    Thanks

You won't be able to do this if you intend on using the 2 boxes at the same time. The LNB is an extension of the receiver and is powered by it. Your best best is to install a dual/quad LNB instead of the single one you have. You can't (too easily anyway) split a satellite signal as you might with a cable signal (NTL etc.)
