I'm currently waiting 4 months to receive the new license. How long have you guys been waiting?

If I go to the local station and enquire, I get the response "They're inundated with applications - you just have to wait....."

I'm also out of ammo

I've just been on the NARG website and they are receiving a large number of complaints from members that have had their applications mislaid by the gardai.

They are asking anyone who has this problem to fill in a questionaire. Details at www.nargc.ie

Mine is not officially lost though.:mad::mad:

try and ring local station and look for supers clerk explain your case usually helps, had a shotgun here with no licence there was some mixup ,not on my behalf, rang and no application form nothing and a licence out the next week 80 yo yo thank you very much, so the can put the skids on. talking to the local garda is a waste of time a personal letter to the super will help explain your case, i usually find them very helpful. mabey were lucky here from what i hear or super loved to hunt himself. best of luck on the 1st.

sorry to hear that, that just taking the p!ss, i was probely lucky with my super, but was told by a garda i know to get a new safe and alarm in house as they were coming to check my guns, drove 50 mile to clonmel bought new 8 gun safe bolted to the wall in a gun room , alarmed window and door plus wired alarm system to phone so there would be no problems, a load of bu,,sh,t no 1 ever came and sargent told me the wont be coming. dont regret putting in alarm system but could have done without spending a heap of money on top of 5 licences.

Got my grant letter last week! (Did apply in April though). Station said that once the 'renewals' were all done applications for additional firearms (in my case) wouldn't be a problem for a shotgun and/or .223. Must start saving up.......:)

Well after speaking to the supers clerk, it turns out they mislaid an accompanying document. I know the doc was submitted with the application as my local firearms garda went through the application with me to check it was all complete.

Why the feck does it take me to chase them after submitting the document to find out they mislaid the thing. When were they going to tell me??? I submitted the application early April !!:mad::mad:

I would suggest anyone waiting for a few months to check to make sure their application is being processed rather than fecked off to one side...

i knew ringing the supers clerk would help, my own son is still waiting on a for his licence its just a renewal told him to ring clerk yesterday and she said sorry about that but a big backlog, thought all this was sorted, would say something if was a new application.

Was hoping to renew my licence and afterwards change the licence to a new gun (As I was selling my air rifle) but cause it's taking so long to get renewal completed I have now completed sale of the rifle. So now I guess I'll have to cancel the renewal of the air rifle licence and apply for a whole new licence

Sorry, I do not mean to be flip, however, I just thought about this episode and just how bad an excuse this would be to use on the Gardai.
