Free Sky Sports 1,2,3,4, & news if you've been out of contract with Sky for a year or more!
Would this work in ROI or have they any offers like this over here?
Amazing what a bit of competition would do.

Taken off a site in UK.

***This offer applies to former Sky customers who have been out of contract for 1 year or more***.

I guess this will be shot down and frozen by disgruntled existing customers, but here goes.... Please vote on this deal's merit alone.

Today I received a letter from Sky offering alll 5 Sky Sports channels (1, 2, 3, 4 and News) for free, for a full 12months, should I choose to rejoin them. The terms are as follows:-

*You must be a former customer of Sky who left more than 1 year ago.
*The offer is valid when taken with any existing Sky Package (from £19 per month for basic Sky+ with one pack).

To get this offer you must call Sky Customer Services on 08442 411 378 and quote reference "SPORT3".

The package I have just signed up for is as follows (but you can pick 'n' mix).
    Sky+ with Variety pack (Sky 1, Sky 2, Sky 3 etc...) - £19
Additional Children's pack (Disney, Cartoon Network Nick etc...) - £1
    Free Sky Sports 1, 2, 3, 4 and News for a year.

The above package works out less than Virgin charge for just Sky Sports 1 & 2.

My brother-in-law called and got the same deal, even though he did not receive the letter and has been away from Sky for several years. Just call 08442 411 378 and quote reference "SPORT3".

See details in post below. Offer ends Septernber 2nd 2010

Sky will wait until there is a drift away when DTT comes on stream before offering anything to us. Greedy bas***ds.

its worth a try..give a call to SKY eire and check if you can get the offer. it may work.
in 2008, SKY gave a one year FREE sky offer for new UK customers with a offer code. i tried to use it from here and after 2 failures, third person accepted the code. i had free sky for 1 year with sky+box

there is no harm in giving a try

Was just hoping somebody here had done it already.
    Great offer.

Sky called me up a few times and offered me the whole service, no matter what package, half price for 12 months if I rejoined from from UPC.

Was, and still are, tempted as they said it was an open ended offer.

Might ditch my UPC TV package for 12 months and go back to Sky for a year, then hop back to UPC.

not giving up my 30Mb broadband...Nooooo Waaaay

Did you have to ask for a deal or did they offer it straight out? I'm always worried I'll call and they'll just say "Ok, that's done. Bye"

I'll call and they'll just say "Ok, that's done. Bye

That's what they did to me when I cancelled my sub last year.

We went to cancel our Sky last year and by time my mother was done on the phone, we had upgraded to the movies package at a lower price than we were currently paying! We then went to cancel one of our sky boxes and were offered sky sports for 3 months even if we canceled the sky box.

We rang to cancel for good this morning and it was done within 5 minutes with no counter offer whatsoever after I told them we were switching to a UPC bundle. I think Sky realise that they can throw all the channels they want at you, but it's difficult to compete with 30mb broadband, a phone service and a generous HD offering as standard.

They asked why I was leaving. I said it was because I got a letter in the post this morning saying my cost was increasing by €4/month with no explanation given.

She then asked what would it take for me to stay - I said "match UPC's prices" she asked how much they were etc... eventually she said well we can offer you half price for 6 months - only the actual package was half price. i.e. I didn't get my HD sub or ESPN half price but still works out pretty well. €65/month for EVERYTHING.

I was well prepared to leave for UPC though so if I hadn't of gotten the offer I was off! :)

This is OT, but I need to ask it as I'm getting differing opinions here in work.

Do you still need a phoneline to get Sky and/or multiroom?

When I go onto the Sky website to sign up, there's an option to check if I don't have a phoneline. This is even if I select that I want multiroom or not.
But the buddy signed up a while back, and he's been told by customer service that he needs a phoneline for multiroom.

I think you need the phoneline for multi-room - according to a chap I work with who got it installed recently it's for Sky to check if you are sharing one subscription with your neighbour!

    Surely not ;)

It is needed for mulyiroom only. If you don't have M-R you can tell them you only have a mobile phone & the can't do anything about it. Mind you some posters were complaining some months ago that Sky were extracting something like €37 out of them for not having a landline. Don't know if that charge still applies. Note the less info you give to Sky, then the less they can tell any of their associate companies about you.

I got my sky sports turned off at the end of the premiership season and last week just before I rang them to get it turned back on,a letter came in the door saying that I now have sky sports 1,2,3,4 free for 3 months
    Happy days :D:D:D:D

I got UPC last week. Thoroughly tested it & its working very well so far, fingers crossed. Rang Sky to cancel on Saturday. Spoke to a very nice fellow with a good thick Cork accent (no insult intented to anyone, but I was getting sick of Scottish accents:D ). He offered me full package at half price for 6 months. I declined.
He then went off to calculate how much I would have to pay up to 14th Sept (31 days notice). He came back to tell me that Sky will owe me €6.08.:D:D
