Task scheduler (esp vista)

Does anyone use this? I'm trying to set up a file backup task (using a .bat file) that runs weekly, and the users just have to make sure the computer is on. It's Vista Home Premium.

It's got a weird er... feature that causes it to lose the username and password whenever you reboot the computer. And you can't set it to use an account without a password. Very annoying. Stranger still is that one of the "triggers" is "on system startup" but it will have lost the credentials after a system startup so how can that trigger ever be used?

Anyone know a way around this? I don't want the users to have to go into the task scheduler and re-enter the password every time they turn on the computer... This seems to be a common problem according to The Internet, but I can't find a solution

I'm not familiar with the exact software that is prompting you.. but you should be able to stop it from prompting you. Have you tried opening the scheduler and deleting the task?

    There is nothing prompting me.

The problem is, I create a task in Windows Task Scheduler (Windows Vista) which is supposed to run at 11:00 Monday morning. You have to give tasks a username and password to determine which (Windows) account it will run using.

Then when I check the history (later), it says the task failed, with error "Level 101" with another long "Additional Information" error code which I can't recall (I'm not at that computer right now - I'll try to find it out).

Research into this error suggests that it was a failed login. It checks your password when you type it in so I know I didn't enter an incorrect password. But I searched the 'net for this problem and found that the Username and Password are lost from the task details when you turn off the computer.

This is a problem because I want the user just to have to turn on the computer when they come in in the morning.

Now my other sort of irrelevant but curious question is - you can do more than just set the time for it to start, you can make it start following certain events, one of which is "System Startup". How can this ever work though, because upon system startup, it will have lost the logon credentials and never able to run the task.
