ive got a 1tb external hdd onto my playstation, i connect it when ever i need to use it. But im worried on how i disconnect it each time , i just pull the usb lead out and pull the plug. I know this isnt the correct way to do it on a pc, so whats to correct way to disconnect an external hdd from a ps3 system.

Do you wait until the console is off? On mine it takes from 1 or 2 up to 10 seconds from a console going off until I hear a little "Brrrr" and the harddrive switches off. Once it does that it's fine to take out. Having said that I've a mate who takes no care at all and has had no problems.

shouldn't make a difference, the reason you safely remove on a pc is because the pc could still be writing to the hd,
wouldnt be the case with ps3, as its only reading from it,

unless your writing a backup !

I just switch mine off and then plug the USB cable out and then unplug.
