We have the same mats as used in Judo clubs and I want to clean them. I was going to pick up some kind of cleaning product in the supermarket but I'm worried that if I choose the wrong stuff I'll damage the mats.

What do you guys use? Do I have to buy some fancy stuff online or is there something I could pick up in a local shop?

In one club I train we've been using Dettol spray and some wipes.

Half the battle can be won by trying to ensure members are turning up for practice in clean gear - personally I prefer people to wear a clean t-shirt/rage guard too.. Personal hygene goes a long way to keeping the clubs clean and safe doe everyone to use.

Depends on the mats I think. EVA ones can't be washed using anything with bleach in them or so I'm told. Any labels on the mats themselves? Mine came with some washing advice; no abrasives etc.

I'll check the labels the next time I'm there.

If the back of the mat is sponge or foam, you would be well not to let it get wet as it's a pain to dry,and reeks too.

We use a mix of Evans Mystrol and Dettol antiseptic disinfectant available in Musgraves.... judo mats are a pain in the ass to keep clean because of the grooved vinyl :(
