Central locking problem on Ford Focus 2002

Hi, I just purchased a Ford Focus 2002 today. The passenger door was replaced and now the central locking system does not work. If all doors are closed and you press the button on keyfob to lock doors it clicks twice, locks and opens doors again. If you lock the passenger door from inside the car, then exit car, close all doors and then press button on keyfob it locks car fine. How can I correct this so all doors lock with keyfob?
    Thanks.

if it was a new door and all the original components transfered over its possible the wiring has got damaged. if on the other hand it is a second hand door that came with a lock it's most likely the door lock

Thanks Rugalo. Id say it's most likely a secondhand door. Is it likely that it was never connected to the central locking system, if thats possible?

no problem. if the loom wasnt connected you wouldnt have your electric window or wing mirror working on that side either, if they work i would say your looking at the lock itself they do give trouble, but if you open the door all the way you can see the loom, just have a little tug at it and see if its connected

Windows and mirrors on that door work. so I guess the loom is connected. Do you think I need a new lock or could it just be damaged wires? When I try locking or unlocking with keyfob there is no sound at all from passanger door. Thanks, Jo.

When you are sat in the car and lock the driver's door by pushing the handle in, does the passenger door lock as well?

Try the same with the passenger door handle to see if it works from there too. Central locking on the Focus (should) works off both front doors.

Hi ROR, so I sat in car and pressed lock on drivers side, it clicked twice, locking and unlocking all doors except the passanger side. When I press lock on passanger side, it clicked once, locking all the doors! Any ideas now what the problem is? Oh, I tried resetting the central locking but that didnt work. Thanks, Jo.

When you locked the driver's door, did it unlock itself of it's own accord?

Yes it did. It clicks twice, in quick succession, lock, unlock. This happens when I use keyfob and press lock on inside of drivers door.

Next time you are in the car, when you lock the driver's door keep an eye on the passenger interior door handle.

Hopefully it's what happened to an old Orion I had. The interior passenger door handle got a bit stiff from not being used very often, and would stick halfway between locked and open. The central locking system thought the passenger door was being opened and would open the whole car.

Bit of WD40 on the passenger door handle solved the issue.

I've seen this happening when the motor in one of the front doors is not adjusted properly. I'm not sure of layout on a focus but in your case it looks like the passenger door is the cause of the problem. to adjust it you usually have to remove the internal door panel, losen the mounting screws on the motor and move it in its slots. then close the door and try it/adjust/try it/sdjust till its working ok.
