Hi guys yesterday I was going home with my friend. We were ready to get off when the train stopped just about 2 minutes away from lansdowne road station . The driver of the train announced that the level crossing gates have broken down and we were waiting there for a good 20 minutes. I dont get why the train did not stop at the station considering that the level crossing is after the station .

Could possibly been stopped at a red signal before the crossing (there's a lot on that small section near Lansdowne!; the signals are interlocked with the level crossings to prevent trains approaching them when they're not working correctly. The driver may have had to receive careful permission to approach Lansdowne with the barriers not down to road traffic also.
