hey guys i'm in the midst of upgrading a ca spotsline m4. I'm really trying to increase the rof not the fps. what i'v done is 6mm bearing, high speed gears and bought a high speed motor. just wondering if there's any point doing the rest of the gearbox to increase rof. i'm asking cause airsoft international did a project and drilled holes in a standard mauri piston the reduce weight and increase rof. has anyone every tried something like that or know of any other simalir tips and tricks.

    thanks for reading.

AOE mod, new piston - a proper one, not a sh*te CA one and a good piston head to match. Shim it properly too.

quick question when short stroking it says you lose 15-20 fps for every tooth you pull. But can you put a higher power spring to bring the fps back up or would that cancel out the work on the piston.

Don't bother short stroking it, it's a bit silly, you'll have to beef up the spring and add very unneccessary stress to the gearbox.

as lefty said. short stroking wud better suit if playing cqb tho.
i have a gear set and piston done but i dont use them. must say the rof is insane and would imo only suit a smaller barrelld aeg to avoid suck back which is why i say wud prob best suit a cqb set up

If you have a new set of high speed gears, a reinforced piston is a must so ditch the Sportline one. A metal spring guide is also a good idea as the plastic one won't last long either. If you want to keep costs down, the standard piston head is fine.
