Glass on top of garden wall?

My house is the first in its row and the back garden is accessible over the side wall from a road on the estate. Recently an intruder climbed over the wall into the garden, I think I disturbed him so nothing came of it thankfully. Would I need permission to set broken glass on top of the wall as a deterrent? Are there other things to bear in mind in going down this route?

You have a duty of care to everyone, even trespassers.

If a scum bag attempted to jump the wall and was injured he could sue you.

OP, sorry to sound harsh (considering your a new user), but this discussion belongs elsewhere - maybe the legal discussions forum. I won't move it there as I'm unfamiliar with their charter.

I'd suggest giving those guys a look.
