Project Maths - Where to start?

I am just starting my first RPT contract teaching maths. I covered a maternity leave last year so wasn't covered to go on the project maths inservice. So I am a little confused about its implementation. Can someone help me with theses questions -

    1) This years fifth and first years will begin learning only strands 1 and 2 of the course (stats & geometry)?

    2) What do they keep from the old course? Is it just these topics as were taught before are now replaced with the project maths material?

    3) I have seen there some new text books but they only cover these two strands of the course. Do students now use a new text book plus the older one for the other material?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!!

    1) this years 1st and 5th years will begin stats and geometry strands 1 & 2 plus the other stuff thats on the "old" syllabus.
    2) they keep everything except strands 1 and 2 ("new" stats and geometry)
    3) AFAIK The george humphrey "concise maths" has supplimentary booklets for strands 1 and 2.. reckon newer books will be onstream soon enough ...check out folens and edco sites...

    Have a look here http://www.projectmaths.ie/default.asp
The education centres run extra evening courses .. if enough people ring up and enquire they said they'll run extra courses. See here for your local education centre http://content.projectmaths.ie/courses All of these courses are finished but if you ring em up we were 'assured' that more courses would be run depending on demand..

    Hope that helps

Great thanks for that. I did contact Project maths to see if they knew of any courses running over the summer but there was nothing until 26th August in Mayo - which is when i start working in Cork! I'll contact my local office again and put some pressure on.

Thanks so much for clearing up those questions.
