Dead 99 passat

My sister has a 99 passat thats been idle for a while but been started now and again but the battery keeps going flat. The battery is new but there must be a drain somewhere. She is hoping to trade it in to a garage along with a 99 avensis as soon as the banks pull their finger out with the cash.A few of them will do the trade in against a newer car .Anyway nine times out of ten I have to go in with my battery pack to start the car and 9 times out of ten she starts up.However, typically as a deal is nearly done with a garage, I had to start her once more but this time she throws her toys out of the pram in a temper tantrum.I usually put the pack on and it clicks to know its connected ok, but this time it only did it once and after that nothing no ignition lights.I then tried it with regular jump leads and still nothing, no ignition lights still. It seems like a fusible link was blown but there is none as far as I know. I tried some of the fuses and none seem to be gone. What else could it be?

Thanks. The connections dont look corroded or have any deposits on them. Also seems tight enough.

What is the Ampage of the battery in the car? Is it sufficient for the car (the diesel will have a large ampage)

Might be worth your while testing the battery with a multimeter when the engine is off and checking for voltage. When the car is turned on with a few electrics turned on test with the multimeter to see if the battery is getting charged by the altenator should be in an around 14vdc.

Jeez I dont know what the amperage is on the batt, its not over big anyway. It was got at a tyre fitter. The volts with the engine off is 1.45 volts;):D.With the battery pack/jump leads on the reading is about 13 volts as you would expect.I think I tried it before with the engine running but not with items switched on and it was roughly the same. She normally will start the next day after starting, but leave it longer and its hit and miss. There is definitely a drain somewhere but as she will be sold it would not be worth the while to find it.What was really confusing me was there was no electric power or ignition lights on when the pack/leads were connected. Thanks for the reply.
