the touchpad on my laptop stopped working for no reason yesterday, i've a mouse plugged into it at the moment but that isn't ideal. i know you can switch the settings so that it turns the touchpad off but that hasn't been messed with, just turned the laptop back on and it had stopped working, anyone got any ideas what i should do?

it's an acer aspire 5532, only got it last december so fairly new

see control panel, device manager, is there any yellow tags, devices not working properly.A driver may need to be installed, or else bring it to the shop, its still under warranty.make sure touchpad switch=on.

i've checked all that like you suggested, all seems to be fine so guess i'll bring it back to the manufacturer, it's still under warranty anyway which is handy

    thanks for that

Have you checked if the touch pad is turned off?
I think you have to press Fn + F4 or 5 or 6

Happened to me like 2months ago and thought I was Fdddddd :o
