Galway, Metal, WTF Happened?!

So I'm a guitarist into metal. More death metal to be honest but I haven't forgotten the metal journey that led me there.
Anyways, looking through these threads and around myspace for the general metal scene and it seems like if you don't live in Dublin, Cork or Limerick, well then you're **** outta luck cuz they're the only three counties where anyone can hold a ****ing guitar or set of drum sticks it seems. I thought Galway was meant to have a creative and diverse music scene. My hairy hole it does! What happen in the last 10 years? Once you could see a metal gig every week in Sally's, the Roisin, the Crance. ****, even Richardsons had gigs on upstairs! Now there's nothing. Not even the odd "guitarist needed for metallica cover band" ads in Modern Music or Back to Music. It's like no one can play music in Galway anymore. Is there a law I don't ****ing know about?

So if you're into metal (death metal preferably) and you play bass, lead guitar or rythme (I started on bass so I'm prob better playing bass) in Galway just let me know you're out there. I'm not very good but would enjoy rehearsing with some like-minded people (beginners to intermediate players preferably) doing covers or original stuff. My guitars being fixed right now but should be done in 2 weeks or so. Mainly I'm just curious as to who's out there.

Some stuff I can play (although I'm quite outta practice):

Pantera - Immortally Insane & a few off Far Beyond Driven
Obituary - Back from the Dead
Sepultura - Procreation of the Wicked (Celtic Frost cover) & a few off Chaos AD.
Opeth - Patterns in the Ivy & the intro acoustic part to Dirge For November and To Bid You Farewell
The usual Metallica bull**** even though I hate them.
Bloodbath - Eaten & Like Fire

That should be an idea of my style I guess.

Yeah, I've heard of Only Fumes & Corpses and I'll Eat Your Face. I've just never seen any adverts up in sally's or richardsons for these gigs. Maybe I've my head in the sand. I thought Us vs Them was set up in Tipp to handle the metal scene there. Maybe that was another crowd.

As for the drummer my cousins a drummer nito the same kinda death and metal I am so I'm ok on that front. Thanks. I'll have to head along to some of this gigs.

i dont know if they're in tipp but usvsthem are definetly the guys to talk to about gigs/bands in galway. Not all of them are necessarily "metal"
(more hardcore than metal) but still, definetly the guys to talk to.

Ya I was thinking of another promoter. Now that I have UsvsThem's myspace I'll be able to keep track of what's happening. That still doesn't solve the lack of musicians looking to start bands in Galway.
