Navy suit shoe advice needed....

    Hi folks,

I need a bit of advice. Im just after getting a new three piece suit for my college graduation. I’m going to be wearing the suit to the ball and more than likely not to the ceremony which is a few days before. I've a darkish gray suit for that. So it’s going to be an evening event.

Anyway the suit is a navy blue with a red pinstripe and I’m having trouble figuring out what colour shoes I should wear. Initially after getting the suit I thought black shoes wouldn’t work because of the shade that the suit is. So I was thinking of an oaky dark brown and belt to match, if that makes sense. However, given the fact that it’s an evening event should I be wearing black shoes?

As for the tie and shirt: Well I want a plain tie to match the pinstripe or inside lining, something classy but not fussy and maybe a pocket square, although there might be too much going with that. I think a white shirt wouldn't look right, so I’m thinking of something like the one in the pic, a cream colour, but it has to be cuffed, that’s just my preference.

Your thoughts please. See the pics

I would normall say brown everytime but the colour of the pinstripe has thrown me off a wee bit.

Brown shoes perfect if a day event - evening event black otherwise it could look like you've come straight from the office

I know what your saying, but I dunno I think brown could work. If it was a two piece it would probably look like I was just came out of the office. Basically I think black could be alot harder to work with but that leaves me with finding the right shade of brown.

I'd say brown myself, but go with a darkish brown to cover the day and night.
