I know Zoe Kavanagh has shot and directed a few videos for local bands and looks good quality too.

Might be worthwhile shooting a few questions that way.

I`d like to help here as video is a medium that`s been close to my heart for several years now and is almost criminally overlooked by new bands and artists. It`s almost like: "oh yeah, the video, forgot about that one". It`s a powerful promotional tool and gives a random music fan surfing the net an instant picture of what the act are like in performance. For music biz A & R, they can also see at the click of a mouse how the band or artist goes down at a local venue - without ever having to leave their office chair in London or New York.
You`re not specific in your post as to what type of video you`re after. Is it one of your band performing a particular song live or is it a storyboard/narrative clip you`re after? Also, ask yourself, who`s watching music videos anymore on the tv? MTV Hits, MTV Dance, Kerrang, VH1 etc all have declining viewerships, in proportion to the growth of broadband and apps on "consumer personals" like iPads and the like. So think about the platform on which your video will be viewed by the end-user.
If you`re based in Dublin then you`re spoilt for choice as regards getting a crew for your video. There are loads of talented under-graduates in multimedia, ranging from DCU to the Tallaght Institute and from Colaiste Dulaig to the film school in Dun Laoghaire, along with NCAD. These students are looking for projects to bump their CV`s and have access to really good camera gear and editing facilities thanks to their colleges. So that`s one way to keep your budget down to zilch :)
I checked the link from Raindog.Promo and was well impressed with Zoe Kavanagh. Main thing to consider is what platform your clip will be viewed on. If it`s youtube then it`s going to be heavily compressed and viewed on a small screen, so you dont need broadcast resolution. I suggest you sign up to vimeo.com and for 40 Euro a year you`ll get their Vimeo Plus package. This way you`ll get their "Universal Player" that makes it possible to view embedded videos on iPhones, iPads, iPod touches and Android devices. You`ll also be able to convert your videos to mobile format and have your fans view your gigs on the upstairs of a bus, in a Dart carriage or on the Luas.
