Cheers basquille, I already have four of the titles on your list :(

Not to be pedantic or anyting, but Fast and Furious was the 4th to be released, but time-line wise it is 3rd :p

    Ahh.. whatever..

Can't say I watched any after the 1st film. I'm sure it's more quality from Vin "single-expression" Diesel.

I also have a lot of the titles already on DVD (Serenity, Hot Fuzz, Shaun of The Dead and King Kong) and I made a vow to stop double-dipping.

Although I was tempted to pick up 'Public Enemies' for that price. Haven't seen it and it's a great price for a Blu-ray that's not out that long.

Oh.. and the first 'Gremlins' was in it too at €8.99. Have that on DVD also!

Saw (and bought) Public Enemies the other day after walking past it.

    Decent film, not brilliant though.

Yeah.. don't think i'll bother Zapp.

Great price though at best price online is £10.85 (ex. 99p) delivery from Zavvi / TheHut.com so a saving of almost €6.

Yeah I wouldn't think you're missing much tbh basq.

Also, Bruno is in the offer for 12.99 (not seen it so I dunno if it's worth that)

As a huge sci-fi fan and a major Serenity fan, let me recommend you get the blu, because:

    • The Audio and Visual standards are absolutely fantastic on this disc. Action scenes pop and rumble and it completely blasts away the DVD format.
    • The audio commentaries are wonderful, and thanks to Blu you can watch them chatting away on a sofa like the bunch of buddies they are:)

I read on several sites that the Public Enemies blu-ray is sub-standard. Michael Mann stuck to digital video throughout most of the scenes but there is a serious issue with artifacting, and the audio balance is way off, making it hard to discern dialogue in some scenes. One to avoid TBH. Especially as it was IMHO a very disappointing film anyway!

    Great site for Blu-ray reviews:
    http://uk.blu-ray.com/

Make sure to stay on the UK option, as sometimes the region A and B versions can differ.

Decided to pick up the Blu-ray of Serenity Klingon Hamlet..

.. once I read there was a visual commentary, I was tempted into purchasing.

Although they tried to sell it to me at €10.99 in the Sligo store.. but got it for €8.99 in the end.

Cheeky buggers! Yeah it's the same as the commentary added to the R1 Special Edition DVD, but with added faces:) And as I said before, for a low-budget sci-fi movie, it really zings on blu. You won't be disappointed.

That's how Mann wanted the film to look and sound. It was the same in the cinema. He used a lot of production sound and pushed the digital cameras a bit too far. The Blu-ray is probably as good as the film is ever going to look. The night photography is incredible though and worth the trade-off in picture quality imo.

I thought the public enemies bluray looked fantastic, especially that gunfight in the woods.

    Bump for this!

Lots more added to the Blu-Ray clearance in Sligo.

I picked up the Ocean's Trilogy (Ocean's Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen) for €15

Picked up the Blade Runner ultimate final maybe 2 disc edition blu-ray (to add my boxset and dvd) in HMV Blanch for €11 and saw the Watchmen Dr. Manhattan special edition blu-ray (have the standard blu-ray myself) for only €13 which is great value.

Was in powercity Coolock this morning and there was loads of blu-rays going for a tenner, a lot of good titles amoung them; "When we were soldiers" stood out for me.

Just on a personnal note I have 2001 A Space Odyssey on blu-ray and for me it has translated beautifully to blu-ray; for sound and picture it was an absolute WOW.

There was a shed load of Public Enemy blu-rays for €8, giving them away for free with Mafia II PS3 game. Saw The Italian Game (the Caine original not that other muck version) going for less than a tenner if I remember correctly.
