This thing was tapping at the window of a building in the centre of Dublin city a few days ago. Was about as big as a bat but looked more insect-like. mothmedium.jpg

Anyone got any ideas what this thing is? Probably some kind of big moth.

(edit) I have no idea how to insert a picture and resize it, but if you right-click on it and select open in new tab it will be easier to see the full thing (edit)

Thanks. I'd no idea Moths could get so big, I'd never seen one before either. Pretty freaky looking thing to be honest.:o

Thanks for the picture, Gosh I never saw one of those, so big and very strange looking.

The biggest moth I ever saw was a hummingbird hawk moth... I was delighted such a beautiful creature..

Poplar Hawk-moths are in the region of 6cm across when at rest.
