Own brand oil any good?

    Looking at Castrol 5w30 - cheaper alternatives are Halfords and and Tesco own brands but is it worth the extra €10 to go for the branded. Its and old car (00).

    Once it's the spec for the engine it will be fine.

    Personally though when I am changing the oil myself for the sake of €10 I always stick with Castrol or Mobil.

    I've used halfords before, seems fine. Think you get some free screwdrivers with it now. Check the various specs on them, but it's probably no worse then any of the other smaller brands.
