Try damping the area with water and then rubbing in liquid hand soap. Rub it in very well on both sides of the stain and then wash as usual. That sometimes works for grease stains on my tops.

Otherwise I have heard of people rubbing in talc powder and then wash.

I've done the brown paper bag on candle grease and it worked a treat. As you've failed at that (wonder did you have the iron hot enough) try hand washing that area with some Swarfega (can buy in most supermarkets) and then pop in the wash afterwards. Its great for oil and grease removal.
