Just read this and thought it was worth posting

Looks like Judge Dredd is going to get the treatment it deserves and thankfully they have said the helmet will stay on.

We can finally forget about that travesty of a film sly made all those years ago!

Hah. Was just coming here to post that. I think Karl Urban will make a great Dredd. Ron Perlman would also be great but maybe he's pushing on a bit and it might limit the stories he could do (Around Deadman time if they took a story from the comic).

Again, you're going to find a lot of people defending the original. I mean it was pretty poor but, as most will say, it really looked great: MC1 and Cursed Earth, The angel gang, Rico. It just wasn't the su of all it's parts.
. "Our idea is to make a very hard, R-rated, gritty, realistic movie of Dredd in Megacity, so we’ve got to get the tone right. He’s not going to take off his helmet. His bike is going to feel real. He’s going to hit people and it’s going to feel real."

So they#re going down the Dark Knight path..... At least they intend to. Don't think the moneymen will let them go down a hard R-rated route
